Meet Stephanie Kedwell of Cheeky Bambino

At this time of year we start to reflect on what has past, and we are reminded that without all of our customers Love Mae would not be the success story that it is today. So with heartfelt gratitude we would like to give our sincere thanks to all of you for being part of the Love Mae journey.  💕

Launching today, and running over the coming months we are introducing you to members of the Love Mae community, and what better time to launch than now, while our hearts are over-flowing with love!...

Tell us about your store, and the types of products that you offer.

Cheeky Bambino is a family concept store, selling a handpicked collection of baby, kids and women’s clothing as well as beautifully curated interiors, homewares and accessories.

What’s trending in-store right now?

Because it’s the lead up to Christmas our handmade crochet toys are flying out the door. Also special little outfits for Christmas Day.

What do you love most about discovering new labels for your store?

I love meeting the people that work behind the brand and finding out their story. I am very passionate about supporting fellow small businesses.

What is your personal favourite Love Mae product and why?

I am a sucker for anything Australiana so it would have to be the Australiana Bamboo Dinnerware Set, it’s just SO darling

What are your top gift suggestions for a) a child’s first birthday,

As an auntie I like to buy my niece and nephews the fun and impractical gifts that their mother would never buy! So you can usually see me suggesting things like a tutu or an outrageously bright shirt or a super fun toy

and b) a baby shower.

I always like to suggest a really special piece like a Cam Cam organic cotton swaddle or blanket as well as a fun outfit for when the baby is a little older. I usually try to sneak something in there for Mama as well, like a Washpool Farm soap bar or bath salts.

What were you doing before you had the store?

After graduating University I moved to London and worked in Notting Hill, London’s fashion and interiors precinct for a number of years. Shortly after moving back to Australia I opened Cheeky Bambino at Brisbane’s Emporium and launched my online store. My family has a long history in hospitality and retail business, so the entrepreneurial spirit runs deep.

What’s your strategy for achieving a work/life balance?

Um I don’t have one haha! As Cheeky Bambino is still so young and just getting started, I spend a lot of my time focused on building my business. Thankfully my fiancé is incredibly supportive! I do get in trouble for being on my phone sometimes though, so I do try and get all my emails and socials done during work hours so I can be off my phone when we’re together.

What’s your favourite Instagram account to follow?

I absolutely love floral accounts! They’re just SO beautiful and flowers can brighten your day instantly! My favourites right now are @valleybrinkroad and @boutierre_girls

What are the top tracks playing in-store right now.

Fleetwood Mac, Chris Stapleton and Johnny Cash!

Where would you recommend people to eat, or grab a coffee if they’re paying you a visit?

The Bungalow and Basket (@thebungalowandbasket) is a few doors up and they have the cutest homewares and the best coffee! Or if you’re after something stronger, Muller Bros is just around the corner and they have a fantastic rooftop bar.
